saya nonton film Gie. entah kenapa hari itu saya sangat memaksa diri untuk menonton Gie. saya ulangi, saya memaksa diri bukan memaksakan diri. saya dengan kesadaran penuh, tekad yang bulat, sungguh-sungguh ingin menonton film ini. mengesampingkan faktor saya memang ngefans dengan Nicholas Saputra, saya memang penasaran dengan film ini. film yang jarang dibuat oleh orang Indonesia. biasanya orang Indonesia sukanya bikin film cinta-cintaan melulu. padahal tipikal-tipikal saja. membosankan. yang paling saya tidak suka: 30 hari mencari cinta. 15 menit menonton saya sudah mengantuk. lagipula saya selalu tertarik dengan sosok aktivis muda, yang dengan idealismenya berani mengkritik dan mengusahakn perubahan terhadap hal-hal yang dianggapnya menyimpang dari kebenaran.
saya nonton film Gie dengan sahabat saya, Dessy di Megaria. Dessy sebenarnya harus rapat untuk acara di UKM-nya tapi dikadung sayang kalau kelewatan film Gie. Tadinya kami mau ke TIM saja tapi sayang, film Gie belum diputar. Megaria sudah. agak dongkol sih karena Megaria tidak terlalu cozy tempatnya, tidak bisa 'cuci mata' juga. lari-lari kejar bus, nunggu satu setengah jam. akhirnya saya nonton Gie.
adegan pertama dibuka dengan masa kecil Gie. saya langsung punya kesan Gie kritis, berani memperjuangkan kebenaran dan keadilan. terlihat pada saat dia berani memprotes gurunya yang salah. dia suka membaca. hebatnya, bacaan yang tidak lazim untuk anak seumurnya. sudah tahu sastra, dari sastra Indonesia sampai sastra asing. adegan yang paling membuat saya terenyuh, saat Gie melihat seorang laki-laki (bukan pengemis) makan kulit mangga yang diambil dari tong sampah. tergerak oleh kemanusiaannya, Gie memberikan uangnya. kondisi yang amat menyedihkan. (dari buku Catatan Seorang Demonstran) padahal tak jauh dari situ Istana Negara dimana Paduka sedang bersenang-senang dengan istri-istrinya. kesetiaan pada prinsip sangat ia tunjukkan "lebih baik diasingkan daripada menyerah pada kemunafikan". ia tetap memegang idealismenya walaupun harga yang ia bayar sangatlah mahal. orang-orang memang mengagumi ide-idenya tetapi mereka menolak ketika Gie hendak masuk dalam lingkaran mereka.

sekarang saya sedang membaca buku Catatan Seorang Demonstran, pemberian tante saya. sayang, kemarin bukunya terlipat. jadi lecek sedikit. sedikit menghibur diri, tak apalah, yang penting masih bisa dibaca. awal september nanti, ada diskusi dan pemutaran film Gie. di situ akan ada Herman O Lantang, kawan seperjuangan Gie. saya mau menulis panjang, tetapi saya lupa detail-detailnya. baiklah saya teruskan nanti setelah acara bedah buku dan film, dan tentunya sebelum itu, saya juga sudah harus selesai membaca buku harian Gie.
